| Walter
Verreydt maakte zijn eerste gitaar in 1985. Als leraar houtbewerker en
muziekliefhebber is het een logische stap naar een interesse in de
constructie van muziekinstrumenten. Zijn passie voor de klank van de
klassieke gitaar dreven hem naar de gitaarbouw. Van bij de start had Walter de mogelijkheid om het werk te
bestuderen van gerenommeerde bouwers als Bouchet, Fleta,
Hernandez-Aguado, en andere. Hij had eveneens goede contacten met
eminente gitaarbouwers zoals José Romanillos en Daniël Friederich.
Dit
was een rijke informatiebron voor hem. In Granada werd hij vertrouwd met de elegante en verfijnde Zuid
Spaanse gitaarbouwtraditie. |
| De
nauwe samenwerking met excellente gitaristen als Odair Assad en Geert
Claessens en de drang naar technische perfectie en esthetische verfijning
resulteerden in een zeer persoonlijke stijl. Het zoeken naar efficiënte technieken en geschikte
materialen blijft voor hem een passie. |

| Sedert 1988 geeft
Walter Verreydt les aan het Centrum voor muziekinstrumentenbouw in Puurs
(België). Naast de noodzakelijke basistechnieken tracht hij zijn
studenten affiniteit bij te brengen voor het instrument en voor het
ambacht.

| In september 1999 werd Walter Verreydt eerste finalist in de "4a
Mostra Concorso Internazionale di Chitarra Classica" in Baveno
(Italië).

Walter
Verreydt made his first guitar in 1985. As a teacher woodworking
and as a music lover it is obvious that he got interested in the
construction of musical instruments. His passion for the sound
of the classical guitar drove him into guitar making.
From the start Walter Verreydt had the
opportunity to study
the work of renowned instrument makers such as Bouchet, Fleta,
Hernandez-Aguado, and others. He also had good contacts with
eminent guitar makers as José Romanillos and Daniël
Friederich. This was a rich source of information for him.

| In
Granada Walter got acquainted with the elegant and refined South
Spanish guitar making tradition. The co-operation with excellent
guitarists as Odair Assad and Geert Claessens and the ambition
to technical perfection an esthetical refinement resulted in a
very personal style. The search for effective techniques and
suitable materials remains Walters passion.
Since 1988 Walter Verreydt is teaching guitar making at the
"Centrum voor muziekinstrumentenbouw" in Puurs
(Belgium). Besides sterling base techniques he tries to teach
his students affinity to the instrument and the craft.
